The Department of Pathology at Pt. B. D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, is a dynamic centre of academic excellence, diagnostic precision, and research innovation. The department has a rich legacy of training medical students and postgraduates, fostering analytical thinking and a deep understanding of disease mechanisms. Guided by a team of dedicated and experienced faculty members, the department continues to uphold high standards in teaching, diagnostics, and research. The department has made significant strides in advancing diagnostic services and academic pursuits. The department is equipped with a comprehensive and modern diagnostic laboratory that supports accurate, timely, and high-quality patient care. We routinely perform Immunohistochemistry (IHC) for accurate tumor typing, prognostic assessment, and therapeutic guidance, molecular studies, including PCR-based assays which enable genomic and molecular insights for personalized medicine; PAP cytology, ensuring high-quality cervical screening and early detection of precancerous lesions; ROSE (Rapid On-Site Evaluation), providing immediate cytological feedback during interventional procedures to ensure sample adequacy; Immunophenotyping (IPT) using immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry for detailed evaluation of hematolymphoid malignancies; and FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) for precise detection of chromosomal abnormalities and gene rearrangements vital to cancer and genetic diagnostics. Through these comprehensive and modern techniques, our department continues to deliver accurate, timely, and reliable diagnostic services in line with global standards.

Over the years, the Department of Pathology at PGIMS has produced numerous distinguished alumni who have gone on to make remarkable contributions to the field of pathology in India and abroad. Many of them are leading pathologists in premier national institutes and global medical centres, acclaimed for their pioneering work in hematopathology, oncopathology, molecular diagnostics, and cytopathology. Their research in novel biomarkers, targeted therapies, and advanced molecular techniques has been published in high-impact international journals and has shaped modern diagnostic protocols. Several have been instrumental in developing specialized diagnostic centres and academic programs, integrating molecular pathology with traditional histopathology to enhance patient care and translational research. Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, established in 2008, stands as a premier state university dedicated to advancing medical and allied health education, research, and healthcare delivery in Haryana. Named after the first Chief Minister of Haryana, the university was instituted with the vision of integrating and standardizing medical education across the state.
